MICROFINANCE EVENT: MEDA Convention; November 2-5, 2023; Toronto, Canada

Sample session titles include (1) Leveraging Philanthropic Capital into Enterprises Owned and Managed by Youth and Women in Africa; (2) Investing in Entrepreneurs: A Seed to Increased Productivity, Inclusive Growth and Systems Change.

Background on the Organizer: Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), is a Canadian NGO that is active in approximately 70 countries and is celebrating its 70th anniversary. MEDA seeks to leverage market systems to increase the impact of its technical assistance and investments. Among its foci is to support women and youth – particularly in the “agri-food markets” – in low- and middle-income countries. The NGO’s metrics for success include positive trends in investees’ revenue, operational efficiency, knowledge transfer and employment.

Cost: The price is CAD 899 (USD 660) for general registration, but discounts are available for students and all who are under the age of 40.
