MICROFINANCE EVENT: European Microfinance Network (EMN) Annual Conference; June 16-17, 2022; Brussels, Belgium

Subtitled “Financial Inclusion and the Future of Work,” the 19th annual conference of the Belgium-based European Microfinance Network (EMN) will focus on changes in the labour market brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic along with rapid technological advances. The agenda will focus on how the microfinance industry can respond to issues such as the challenge of climate change and the trend of self-employment growing in Europe while the number of salaried employees is shrinking. Sample session titles include “What Role Can Financial Inclusion Actors Play Under the Social Economy Action Plan” and “Digitalisation and Human Touch: Where Does One Start and One End?”. On June 15, EMN will hold committee meetings and a member-only practical session for microfinance providers.

Organiser background: EMN is an NGO seeking to promote microfinance as a means of countering social and financial exclusion within Europe. As of 2022, the organisation reports 90 members operating in 25 countries.

Cost: Regular tickets cost EUR 665 (USD 700), although EMN members may request a discount code from emn[at]aimgroup.eu to access a rate of EUR 532 (USD 560).
