MICROFINANCE EVENT: Sa-Dhan Conference on Financial Inclusion; November 14-15, 2022; New Delhi, India

This event, in its 17th edition, addresses the challenges of the financial inclusion sector, including how to enable universal access to financial services. The event will cover topics such as: (1) microinsurance; (2) underrepresented enterprises; (3) digitization and microfinance; (4) health; (5) and clean energy and climate change. Although details of the agenda have yet to be finalized, the last edition of the event featured sessions including: (1) Role of Microfinance in the Macro-environment; (2) Sustainable Development – Inclusive Financial Goals; and (3) Product Diversification for Meaningful Financial Inclusion.

Background on Organizer: Sa-Dhan is an association of 216 Indian community development finance institutions that serve 44 million customers in 33 states and hold an aggregate gross loan portfolio of INR 1.2 trillion (USD 15 billion) as of 2022. Sa-Dhan has been recognized by the Reserve Bank of India as a self-regulatory organization, which gives Sa-Dhan the power to monitor its member microfinance institutions (MFIs), including the responsibility to document that they meet various standards for client protection. Sa-Dhan also publishes the annual Bharat Microfinance Report, an annual statistical analysis of the financial inclusion sector in India.

Cost: The standard fee to attend the event is INR 8,000 (USD 100) for Indian citizens and USD 500 for international participants. Discounts of 10 percent to 38 percent apply for each additional person registering from the same organization. Sa-Dhan members may enjoy a discounted rate of INR 5,000 (USD 60).
