Summary of Event: This event will address the evolution of markets in subsistence communities in developing countries from both an economic and academic perspective. Topics are to include: Sustainable Business and Consumption from the Bottom Up; Institutional and Organizational Dimensions of Enterprises and Public Partnerships; Survival, Subsistence, and Transformative Entrepreneurship; Curricular Innovations; Transformative Consumer Research in Subsistence Marketplaces; Lessons from Practice in Subsistence Marketplaces; and Junior Scholar and Practitioner Mentorship.

Background on Organizers: The event is being organized by the Gies School of Business at the US-based University of Illinois. The school’s Subsistence Marketplaces Initiative researches subsistence markets around the world to improve the understanding of their development and their changing place in a globalizing world.

Cost: The fee to attend is USD 500, with a rate of USD 400 for conference speakers, and a fee of USD 300 for students.
