MICROFINANCE EVENT: 2nd Annual Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Africa Conference; October 4-5, 2023; Sandton, South Africa

This conference offers opportunities to collaborate on incorporating environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) goals into organizations’ operations. The themes are: (1) Investment and Financing; (2) Measurement and Reporting; (3) Governance, Leadership and Culture; and (4) Legal. The itinerary for Day One of the event includes a panel discussion on leadership, a keynote on consumerism and a youth perspective segment regarding value chains. Day Two includes a panel discussion about emerging technology and climate impact reporting in Africa and a keynote on implementing ESG goals in micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

Background on organizer: This annual conference series was founded in 2022 by four South African business people experienced in renewable energy, environmental law and “sustainability coaching.” The inaugural event hosted 257 attendees and 64 speakers. The organization’s headquarters is located in the city of Johannesburg, South Africa.

Cost: The standard fee to attend is ZAR 6,250 (USD 330), although a rate of ZAR 5,500 (USD 290) per person is available for groups of five or more.
