MICROFINANCE EVENT: Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) Investor Forum; October 30-31, 2018; Paris, France

At this year’s forum, representatives of the impact investing industry will discuss the following themes: (1) Climate and the Environment, which includes ways capital markets can realize the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement of 2016; (2) Integrating Impact, which refers to metrics for measuring the social performance of investments; (3) Diversity and Inclusion, which concerns the tools and strategies investees can incorporate into their business models to manage racial and gender equity; (4) Market Development, which includes growing impact investor networks and increasing the participation of larger financial institutions in the impact investment sector; (5) Product Development, which will showcase new business models from investees and; (6) Technology, which will cover how artificial intelligence, blockchain technology and automation can support the work of impact investors. The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) defines impact investing as “investments made into companies, organizations, and funds with the intention to generate social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.”

Background on Organizer: Established in 2009, GIIN is a nonprofit network of investors, asset managers and financial institutions with an interest in impact investing. Based in the US city of New York, GIIN has a 57-member Investors’ Council that works to increase “the level and effectiveness of capital that is supporting market-based solutions to social and environmental problems.” The organization coordinates events, conducts research and develops standards relevant to the impact investing market.

Cost: The cost of registration is EUR 1,395 (USD 1,629) until September 14 and EUR 1,895 (USD 2,212) thereafter. Various discounts are available for GIIN members as well as non-member government entities, insurers and NGOs.
