MICROFINANCE EVENT: Sankalp Global Summit; October 19, 2023; Mumbai, India

The Sankalp Forum’s 15th Global Summit is themed “The Great Transition: Financing Climate Action for the Global South.” The program will focus on the promotion of: (1) Micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) seeking to reduce human impacts on the environment; (2) Switching to renewable – and affordable – energy sources; (3) Protecting biodiversity on land and in water; (4) Community resilience via healthcare, climate adaptation and equality; (5) Leveraging technology to improve agricultural practices; and (6) Reducing carbon emissions to net-zero.

Sankalp also is partnering with Artha Impact, the impact investing unit of Switzerland’s Rianta Capital, to introduce the Sankalp x Artha Impact Global Awards, which will recognize entrepreneurs that are incorporating solutions to climate change into their business models.

Background on Organizer: The Sankalp Forum was founded in India in 2009 by Intellecap, an advisory firm that seeks to enhance the business practices of social enterprises. From offices in India and Kenya, Intellecap offers services such as microfinance development, technology solutions, investment banking and business consulting. The firm reports that Sankalp has linked 2,300 entrepreneurs with 1,000 investors.

Cost: The standard fee to attend is USD 130 plus tax. A rate of USD 65 is offered to entrepreneurs.
