MICROFINANCE EVENT: Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS); November 2-3, 2023; Lusaka, Zambia

Twice a year, this event convenes to promote collaboration on entrepreneurship as well as issues and opportunities regarding financial technology (fintech) in Africa. Following a pre-event dinner on November 1, the first day will include a keynote address and various other sessions. Although the detailed program is yet to be released, the closing day is to include the pitch competition of the AlphaExpo Micro-Accelerator and a Lusaka Ecosystem Tour offering opportunities to meet industry regulators and other stakeholders off-site.

Background on Organizers: The Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) is a global forum that was founded by Dedalus Global and Ibex Frontier in 2017 with the goal of addressing innovation, challenges, trends and partnerships in the African fintech ecosystem. It engages 4,000 stakeholders spanning 100 countries.

Dedalus Global is an investment consulting advisory firm based in the US that focuses on fintech, agriculture tech (agritech), blockchain technology and innovative forms of energy. Its goal is to connect “smart capital with emergent tech ecosystems” across Africa and Asia.

Ibex Frontier is an Ethiopia-focused investment consulting firm that was founded in 2002. It is US-based and also has offices in Ethiopia and the UK.

Cost: An in-person delegate pass costs USD 300, and a virtual delegate pass costs USD 25. Separate fees apply for the pre-conference dinner and the Lusaka Ecosystem Tour.
