MICROFINANCE EVENT: Africa Fintech Summit; April 21, 2022; Washington, DC, USA

The Africa Fintech Summit (AFTS) offers a platform on which “ideas are explored, investments mobilized, and collaborations formed” relating to financial technology (fintech) in Africa. The event will cover topics such as regulation; how to boost African talent in the technology field; and environmental, social and governance considerations. Session titles include: US-Africa Fintech Connection, Investing in African Fintech, and Cryptocurrency and The Future of Money. Furthermore, the AFTS gives out awards to entities and individuals making substantial advancements towards Africa’s fintech sector. Award nominations close on April 7, 2022.

Background on Organizer: In addition to holding this event each April in Washington and each November in a different African city, the organizers publish a newsletter, whitepapers and podcasts. Past events have taken place in Cairo, Addis Ababa and Lagos.

Cost: The fee for delegates is USD 264, plus USD 206 if they wish to attend the dinner networking event. Virtual passes and in-person student passes are priced at USD 159. In-person prices increase by an undisclosed amount on March 20.
