MICROFINANCE EVENT: Africa Fintech Summit; November 2-4, 2022; Cape Town, South Africa

The eighth edition of this event offers attendees 21 sessions presented by stakeholders representing fintech [financial technology] firms and investors overseeing total capital of USD 4.5 billion. The detailed event program is yet to be announced, but it is to include discussions, demos, a dinner on November 2 and site visits on November 4 as well as AlphaExpo, a micro-accelerator for newly launched firms to “meet with, learn from, and pitch to various stakeholders across the continental fintech ecosystem.”

Background on Organizers: Dedalus Global, whose head office is in the US state of Virginia, is “an investment, communications, and strategy advisory” firm with a focus on developing markets. The organization has networks in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia and Southeast Asia that address four main areas: (1) fintech; (2) agricultural technology (agritech); (3) renewable energy; and (4) blockchain.

Founded in 2002, Ibex Frontier is an investment advisory company with offices in Ethiopia, the UK and the US.

Cost: The participation fee is USD 250 for in-person attendance or USD 100 for the virtual portion of the event. Additional fees apply for the dinner and site visits.
