MICROFINANCE EVENT: SEEP Annual Conference: Collaboration for Impact; October 1 - 3, 2018; Arlington, Virginia, USA

Summary of Event: While the sessions on October 2 and 3 are open to the public, October 1 is a Member Day reserved for members of the SEEP Network, a US-based NGO. Many of the sessions on October 2 and 3 will fall into the following “technical tracks”: Preparing for the Future of Food; Building Resilience to Protracted Crises, Disasters and Conflicts; Unleashing the Power of Women and Girls; and Getting and Using the Right Kind of Evidence.

Request for Proposals: Through June 5, SEEP members are invited to propose “peer learning sessions” to be hosted at the event. These proposals should fit into one of the four technical tracks listed above.

Background on Organizers: This event is organized by the SEEP Network, which seeks to enable cross-sector collaboration toward systems-level change in areas such as food security, “responsible” financial services, savings groups and women’s economic empowerment. As of 2018, the SEEP Network has approximately 100 member organizations working in 160 countries. For 2016, it reported total revenue of USD 3 million. (Upon its founding in 1985, the SEEP Network was known as the Small Enterprise Evaluation Project. Later, it was renamed the Small Enterprise and Education Promotion (SEEP) Network.)

Cost: The fee to attend is USD 1,100, with a rate of USD 840 available to SEEP members. Both categories of registrants may enjoy a discount of USD 100 by registering before August 1.
