MICROFINANCE EVENT: Second International Interest-free Banking & Takaful Forum; February 18-20, 2020; Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

On February 18, this event includes speakers on investment opportunities and other potential benefits of Islamic finance, which employs mechanisms such as the sharing of both profit and loss rather than conventional interest payments. Session titles include the Frontier of Interest, Regulations and Supervision, Shariah Governance in Interest-Free Banking and Takaful as well as other topics in African finance. A workshop scheduled for February 19 focuses on the operational and technical aspects of interest-free banking. The workshop on February 20 will focus on the operational aspects of Islamic insurance, also known as takaful.

Background on Organizer: The AlHuda Center of Islamic Banking and Economics (CIBE) has worked to spread Islamic finance for the past 10 years.

Cost: The cost of the event is USD 195 for the first day. The fee for the workshops is USD 149 each. A pass for all three days costs USD 450. Discounts are available to groups of five or more from the same organization.
