This event includes a one-day forum on September 19 followed by a two-day workshop on the historical, “operational and practical aspects” of takaful, re-takaful and micro-takaful, types of insurance that comply with Islamic law. The goals of these events are to spread knowledge of the takaful industry, share best practices, tackle problems that hinder growth of the industry and facilitate collaboration. Speakers during the forum will present on: (1) Fundamentals and Present Practices of the Takaful Industry; (2) Takaful Portfolios and Innovative Products; (3) Best Marketing Strategies; (4) Risk Management and Actuarial Services in the Takaful Industry; and (5) the Future Prospects of the Takaful Industry. The organizers will also present a dozen awards recognizing excellence in takaful.
Background on organizer: Founded in 2005, the AlHuda Center for Islamic Banking and Economics (CIBE) offers consulting services, hosts conferences and workshops, and sponsors publications on Islamic banking and finance. It is based in the UAE and has regional offices in Pakistan and South Africa.
Cost: Registration to attend the forum costs USD 195. Registration for the workshop costs USD 295. Attendees may qualify for a 20-percent discount by registering at least 30 days in advance or by attending as a group of five or more delegates from the same organization.
