MICROFINANCE EVENT: Sankalp Africa Summit; February 27 - 28, 2020; Nairobi, Kenya

The aim for the seventh Sankalp Africa Summit is to “discuss, define, and drive forward the critical levers of entrepreneurial success for the Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by 2030 in Africa.” The summit will focus on challenges, such as raising funds and human resources management. While the agenda for the 2020 summit has yet to be released, based on the 2019 agenda, there will keynote addresses, panel discussions and masterclasses centred on the summit’s theme, “Collaborate 2030: Scaling Entrepreneurship for the Global Goals.”

Background on Organizers: This conference is organized by Intellecap, a member of the Aavishkaar Group. Intellecap is the India-based unit of the group that “works to build businesses that can benefit the underserved segments across Asia and Africa,” including in the fields of health, agriculture and financial inclusion. Founded in 2001, Aavishkaar focuses on early-stage investing and using venture capital models to invest in smaller enterprises. It aims to “nurture entrepreneurs…[to] generate commercial returns while serving humanity sustainably.” The group manages assets valued at an approximate total of USD 155 million, largely deployed in the agriculture and healthcare sectors.

Cost: The cost of attending this event is USD 669. Discounts are available to entrepreneurs. Registration is scheduled to end on February 21, 2020.
