MICROFINANCE EVENT: Sa-Dhan National Conference; September 16-17, 2019; New Delhi, India

The 20th annual iteration of this event offers sessions such as “Insurance: the Missing Link in Financial Inclusion;” “Augmenting Good Governance and Promoting Respectable Finance;” “Integrating Digital Finance, Strengthening Cybersecurity;” and “Microfinance and Clean Energy: Untapped Opportunity.” Speakers represent organizations including the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development , the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and the Small Industries Development Bank of India. The conference will take place in the India Habitat Center in New Delhi.

Event Organizer: Sa-Dhan is an association of Indian community development finance institutions, including microfinance institutions (MFIs), banks and cooperatives. As of 2018, it has 190 member organizations that serve 29 million customers in 33 Indian states and hold an aggregate gross loan portfolio of INR 468 billion (USD 6.8 billion). Sa-Dhan has been recognized by RBI as a self-regulatory organization, which gives Sa-Dhan the power to monitor its member MFIs, including the responsibility to document that they meet various standards for client protection. Sa-Dhan also publishes the annual Bharat Microfinance Report, an annual statistical analysis of the financial inclusion sector in India.

Cost: The fee for international attendees is USD 500, and the fee for attendees from India is INR 8,000 (USD 113). For Sa-Dhan members, the fee is INR 5,000 (USD 71). Discounts for additional attendees from the same organization range from 38 percent to 50 percent.
