MICROFINANCE EVENT: ICT4D (Information Communications Technology for Development) Conference; January 12, 2021; Virtual – NEW DATES AND FORMAT

The event had been scheduled to take place in Abuja, Nigeria, from April 21-23, 2020.

This conference will bring together approximately 900 delegates to explore the use of digital innovations to adapt to global challenges, such as providing humanitarian relief and building infrastructure to increase access to technology for poor people. Specific topics include using “big data” to make large-scale improvements in agriculture; how emerging technologies can increase digital financial inclusion; using digital systems to streamline process flow in value chains; empowering members of underserved groups to manage their own digital footprints; and how to manage, use and collect data responsibly. An add-on training on the day after the main conference offers professional skill development workshops in areas such as “Ethical, Responsible AI [Artificial Intelligence]” and “Your Data Journey – How to Use Data and Data Science for Impact.”

Background on Organizers: Catholic Relief Services is the “international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States,” providing assistance and promoting development that impacts 100 million people in 101 countries. NetHope is a US-based nonprofit confederation of NGOs seeking “innovative approaches to solve development, humanitarian, and conservation challenges.”
