MICROFINANCE EVENT: GSG Impact Summit; November 18-20, 2019; Santiago, Chile

This conference is meant to promote the sharing of ideas for addressing socioeconomic problems through entrepreneurship and investment. Sessions will cover topics including the following: the accuracy of indicators for quantifying the community benefits of impact investments; limiting the risk of damage to the natural environment caused by economic development; enabling the benefits of capitalism to be more widely accessible; and how technology and modern media have affected the perception of financial markets.

Background on Organizers: The Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) is a UK-based charitable organisation that advocates the use of capital to generate positive “social and environmental outcomes alongside financial returns.” It was founded in 2015 to continue the work of the Social Impact Investment Taskforce, which was established in 2013. The membership of GSG comprises 23 countries plus the EU.

Cost: There is a fee of USD 500 to attend the initial two days of the summit. An additional charge of USD 50 applies to the Entrepreneur Catalyst Day on November 20. Upgrading to a premium tickets package enables access to additional sessions with Sir Ronald Cohen. Registration closes on October 31, 2019.
