MICROFINANCE EVENT: Africa Global Payment Summit; August 27 – 28, 2019; Johannesburg, South Africa

The 2019 Africa Global Payment Summit will cover “developments in payments and wallets as well as the larger, cross-border regional platforms that are transforming the African payments landscape.” Sessions with address regulatory best practices, bringing together the 16 central banks of the Southern African Development Community to identify what an enhanced global payment system for the region should look like and how this can be achieved.

Background on Organizer: Established in 2001, Currency Research is a for-profit organization based in the US that offers consulting services, conferences and “community enterprise initiatives.” Its mission “is to inspire and progress industry dialogue and efficiency across cash and payments” systems in both domestic and international settings.

Cost: The cost to attend varies according to when attendees register. If registering before June 30, the fee is USD 498. Thereafter until 16 August, the cost is USD 746. If registering on-site, the fee is USD 995.
