The Dutch NGO Aflatoun International and Bahrain-based financial advisory firm Fintech Robos recently agreed to collaborate on their efforts to expand financial literacy in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The partners plan to promote financial education through the development of “curriculum and training materials” and in-person events with the goal of reducing the gap “between the financially resilient and financially fragile.”

Founded in 2020, Fintech Robos provides individuals and businesses with investment, pension and savings services through mobile apps and other means. Its goal is to “revolutionize how financial planning and investment operations can be digitally managed.” Data on the size of the organization are not available.

Aflatoun partners with 300 organizations in 116 countries to provide education on financial topics as well as social issues such as human rights, violence prevention and emotional wellness with the goal being to “create a world of empowered children.” The NGO’s approach includes training teachers, customizing curricula to various regions and harnessing digital learning tools. Key themes include “financial independence and entrepreneurship, early childhood and youth development, peace building and sustainable development practices.” Through its partner network, in 2022, the organization reached 3.8 million children, 56 percent of whom were female.
