    Event Name: 2010 Africa/Middle East Regional Microcredit Summit (AMERMS)

    Event Description: This conference, which is attended by microfinance practitioners and other stakeholders, aims to encourage the integration between the microfinance industry with other sectors, and showcase current projects that have been successfully launched in Africa and the Middle East regions. It also plans to monitor progress towards fulfilling the Microcredit Summit’s two goals for 2015, which are (1) to provide financial services to 175 million of the world’s poorest and (2) to help 100 million families rise above the poverty line.

    The Association of Microfinance Institutions of Kenya, established in 1999, aims to promote growth in the country’s microfinance sector. Currently, the association consists of 36 member institutions that claim to provide 2 million poor and middle class Kenyan families with financial services.
