MICROFINANCE EVENT: NAMMS and RMC Present Sixth Annual National Conference “Microfinance in Russia: Building an All-Inclusive Financial System”

MICROFINANCE IN RUSSIA: BUILDING AN ALL-INCLUSIVE FINANCIAL SYSTEM

NOVEMBER 15-17, 2007, MOSCOW, RUSSIA

The National Partnership of Microfinance Market Stakeholders (NAMMS), a non-profit partnership of individuals and organizations dedicated to microfinance proliferation, and the Russian Microfinance Center, a non-profit organization that promotes microfinance in Russia, jointly present “Microfinance in Russia: Building an All-Inclusive Financial System” to take place in Moscow, Russia, November 15-17, 2007. The purpose of the conference is to promote the role of microfinance in improving access to financial services in Russia. The conference will concentrate on a wide range of issues in promoting better access to financial services, microfinance institutions and technologies. Key discussions will include building a multi-tiered system of credit cooperatives, enabling policies and investment opportunities for microfinance institutions, and the use of branchless banking, mobile banking and e-money technologies.

The agenda consists of plenary sessions, discussions and training sessions, debates and round tables. The conference will also offer business brunches to enable participants to meet government officials, and representatives of rating and other agencies. Participant interaction and networking are encouraged and the conference will have the capacity for private negotiations as necessary.

Conference attendees are expected to include Russian policy-makers and legislators, representatives of the United Nations, the World Bank, top executives of Russian banks and MFIs, representatives of international institutions and funds which support innovations in microfinance, rating agencies and Russian and international investors focusing on bank and non-bank microfinance programs.

An early registration fee is available through September 28, 2007 and is 9,750 rubles, approximate USD 380 equivalent, for the first participant and 8,250 rubles for each subsequent participant. The standard registration fee for one participant is 13,000 rubles, approximate USD 500 equivalent, and each subsequent is 11,000 rubles. The registration fee includes attendance of all conference sessions, participant pack and handouts, and lunches for both days. All participants are responsible for their own travel and lodging accommodations.
