MICROFINANCE EVENT: Groupe Speciale Mobile Association (GSMA) Mobile 360 Series; July 17 – 19, 2018; Kigali, Rwanda

The theme of this event, “Who will lead the digital revolution: the people or the technology?”, will drive discussions about the mobile industry in Africa, exploring topics such as big data, youth entrepreneurship, mobile money and increasing the adoption of mobile technology. The agenda includes sessions such as Is the Digital Landscape Inclusive for All?, Harmonising Technology and People to Sustain the Green Agenda, and Funding for Growth: Investment Models for the Next Generation of Mobile Money.

Background on Organizer: This conference is organized by the Groupe Special Mobile Association (GSMA), which was founded in 1995 as a follow-up to 1987’s Groupe Special Mobile, an agreement which has since evolved into a set of standards known as the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). GSMA organizes events and otherwise seeks to serve the interests of – as of 2018 – approximately 800 mobile operators and 300 other companies including software companies, equipment providers, and internet service providers.

Cost: The standard cost to attend is USD 999, with a rate of USD 499 offered to attendees from startups. Representatives of companies in the agriculture, banking and energy infrastructure sectors may enjoy a rate of USD 699. GSMA associate members may also attend for USD 699, and there is no fee for full members of GSMA.
