At this year’s gathering, approximately 500 people will discuss the theme “Reaching the Informal: the Role of Finance in Improving the Growth and Productivity of SMEs,” including how access to digital banking services allows small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to address problems associated with “informality.” Informality refers to economic activities that are not taxed or otherwise monitored by government. During the event, the presentation of the Global SME Finance Awards will recognize firms for achievement in the following categories: Product Innovation of the Year, SME Bank of the Year and Responsible Digital Innovator of the Year.
Background on Organizer: The SME Finance Forum is an initiative of the Global Partnership for Financial Inclusion (GPFI), which was established by the G20, a group of twenty large economies. Under the management of the World Bank Group’s International Finance Corporation (IFC), GPFI researches the best practices in funding SMEs and seeks to facilitate “knowledge-sharing and collaboration” among financial institutions, development agencies, policy makers and researchers.
Cost: The cost of attendance is USD 720 for non-members until July 15 and USD 1,200 thereafter. Attendance is free for members of the SME Finance Forum.
