MICROFINANCE EVENT: Gender Lens Investing Forum and Foro Latinoamericano de Inversión de Impacto (FLII); November 7-10, 2022; Antigua, Guatemala

The Gender Lens Investing (GLI) Forum will address advancing investment from a gender perspective in order to promote equality and economic growth. The agenda will address five central areas: (1) the Missing Middle; (2) Digital Equity; (3) Forced Migration; (4) the Care Economy; and (5) Health. The Foro Latinoamericano de Inversión de Impacto (FLII) will have three foci relating to impact investing: (1) People X Planet; (2) Prosperity X Partnerships; and (3) Peace X People.

Background on Organizers: Established in 1990, Pro Mujer has offices in the US and field operations in Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico and Nicaragua. Its focus is to increase access to financial, health and educational services for women and their families. During 2021, Pro Mujer provided: (1) microloans to 205,000 women entrepreneurs; (2) 179,000 health interventions; and (3) training for 170,000 people.

Established in 2010 in Guatemala, Alterna offers tools and connections that support business models intended to enable change and solve environmental problems in Central America. The organization reports having helped approximately 1,500 entrepreneurs generate USD 15 million additional sales with an average growth rate of 205 percent during one year after intervention. Alterna started the Foro Latinoamericano de Inversión de Impacto in 2015.

Cost: The fee to attend both events is USD 350. A discounted rate of USD 150 is available until September 9. Discounts also are available for groups of five or more from the same organization.
