MICROFINANCE EVENT: Columbia University Social Enterprise Conference; October 14, 2022; New York, USA

Themed “Capital for Good,” this conference focuses on the role of capital in solving global issues. The program includes: (1) Strengthening Mental Health Through Tech Innovation, Connectivity and Peer Support Systems; (2) Closing the Racial Wealth Gap and Building an Equitable Economy Through Business; (3) Impact Through Infrastructure: Building Community Resiliency Through Tech-enabled Solutions; (4) ESG [Environmental, Social and Governance] Investing: Integrating Impact as a Source for Business Value; and (5) Investing in Women’s Health, Leadership and Economic Empowerment.

Background on Organizers: Established in 2015, the Tamer Center for Social Enterprise at Columbia Business School seeks to facilitate the combination of best management practices with positive societal effects. The Columbia Business School is part of Columbia University, which was founded in 1754 in the US city of New York. The university has approximately 33,000 students and an endowment of USD 14.4 billion as of 2021.

The Green Business Club is a student organization at Columbia Business School that focuses on the convergence of business, education, climate and sustainability.

The Columbia Business School’s Social Enterprise Club is active in areas such as financial inclusion and board development. It is a chapter of Net Impact, US-based NGO that supports “students and emerging impact leaders who want to use their skills to make a positive impact for people and planet.”

Cost: Standard tickets cost USD 150, and Columbia students are offered a rate of USD 50. Registration is scheduled to close October 11.
