MICROFINANCE EVENT: 7th Annual Symposium of Nigerian Microfinance Platform; April 28, 2022; Abuja, Nigeria

The goal of this annual series of events is to bring together stakeholders in the Nigerian microfinance sector to discuss current issues in the field. The agenda for this year’s symposium includes the following topics: (1) Microfinance Banking in a Post-Pandemic Era: Financial Technology Options; (2) Improving Efficiency of Microfinance Banks through Technology: Policy Perspectives; and (3) Expanding the Frontiers of Financial Inclusion through Innovation: The Role of Stakeholders.

Background on Organizer: The Nigerian Microfinance Platform has 31 members, including financial services providers, government agencies, investors, researchers and consultants. The organization was established by the governments of Nigeria and Germany as well as Germany’s AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation. (The acronym AFOS derives from the name Africa Fund for Self-Employment, although the NGO is active in Asia and Latin America as well as Africa.) The Nigerian Microfinance Platform is hosted by the Microfinance Learning and Development Center, which offers training, consulting and research services.
