MICROFINANCE EVENT: 2020 Skoll World Forum; March 31 - April 3, 2020; Oxford, England - CANCELED

This annual event at the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship of the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford was first held in 2004. Although the 2020 forum agenda has yet to be released, the forum is intended to convene “creative and ambitious thinkers, artists, and innovators to inspire and challenge each other in entrepreneurial approaches to global challenges.” Sessions from recent years covered topics such as public-private financing initiatives for investing in underserved markets, financial innovation for inclusive business, and funding impact at scale through market segmentation. In addition to attending the main event, participants may apply to host one of several Ecosystem Events, which are “public, independently organized events hosted during the week of the Forum…to address emerging issues” in partnership with Skoll.

Background on Organizer(s): Founded by Jeff Skoll in 1999, the Skoll Foundation aims to build “a sustainable world of peace and prosperity.” Apart from organizing its annual Skoll World Forum, the foundation also awards prizes to social entrepreneurs and organizations to celebrate efforts in social innovation. As of 2018, the Skoll Foundation has assets of USD 563 million.
