Summary of Event:
The goal of the conference is to create an opportunity for microfinance researchers and practitioners to meet and discuss microfinance innovation and research. Session topics will include microcredit, interest rates, microsavings and business training. Topics of discussion will include:
• What is the impact of microfinance on the poor?
• How do interest rates affect the demand for microfinance products?
• How to design appropriate consumer regulation.
• Does business training help microenterprises?
• How to increase savings behavior among the poor.
• Microinsurance – impact and product design.

Organizers:
The event is hosted by the following organizations: Financial Access Initiative, a consortium of development economists at three U.S academic institutions, New York University, Yale University and Harvard University; Innovations for Poverty Action, a U.S.-based nonprofit which develops solutions to social problems; the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, a network of professors at United States’ Massachusetts Institute of Technology which conducts research on poverty alleviation; Moody’s Corporation, a U.S.-based credit rating agency; Deutsche Bank, an international financial institution based in Germany; and CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), a U.S.-based policy and research center.

Day-Three Symposium:
