MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: She WINS Africa Program to Empower Women-led Startups

Women-led startups in sub-Saharan Africa are invited to apply for the “she Wins Africa” programme of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group. IFC plans to select 400 firms to receive training, mentorship, and support in accessing venture capital and other forms of funding. She WINS Africa is modeled on she Wins Arabia, which was launched in 2021 and has since provided similar support to 80 women-led businesses.

Mohamed Gouled, Vice President of Industries at IFC, said, “Across Africa, women entrepreneurs often lack access to capacity building support to help them launch or grow their businesses. Through she WINS Africa, IFC is helping to address that need, ensuring that women are supported in their ventures and can attract the investment they need to build upon their entrepreneurial determination and creativity.”

To apply, you may email shewinsafrica[at]ifc.org.

The goal of IFC is to develop private sector markets in low- and middle-income countries. The institution has operations in 100 nations and disbursed a total of USD 33 billion during 2022.
