MICROCAPITAL BRIEF: Impact Platform Capshift Closes $5m Equity Funding Round for Investment Infrastructure

Capshift, a US-based facilitator of impact investments, recently closed an investment round totaling USD 5 million to expand its “technology platform, impact investment research database and advisory capabilities.” Capshift defines impact investing as that “made with the intention to generate positive, measurable, social and environmental impact alongside a financial return.”

The following entities invested in Capshift for the first time during this funding round: 1) Brazen Impact, a US-based private equity fund; 2) Gratitude Railroad, an impact fund based in the US that aims “create deep social and environmental impact;” 3) Impact Investors, a US-based planning and advisory services firm focused on impact investing; and 4) “co-founders or former heads of… Bain Capital Europe, Aperio, and Addepar.” Meanwhile, three US-based entities increased their exposure to Capshift during this round, the Grantham Foundation, which focuses on the environment; Heron Foundation, which seeks to reduce poverty; and Spring Point Partners, which issues both non-refundable and return-seeking investments.

Founded in 2018, Capshift connects investors with approximately 1,000 enterprises and impact funds as of 2021. Its offerings include: 1) researching impact investment opportunities; 2) connecting investors directly with impact investment opportunities; 3) partnering with financial institutions to connect customers to investment opportunities; and 4) digital tools for monitoring investments.
