MICROFINANCE EVENT: Opportunity Collaboration: OC2023; October 15-19, 2023; Miches, Dominican Republic

The purpose of this event is to enable attendees to collaborate on solutions to global poverty and injustice. The agenda is primarily attendee-led, with an “unconference” style. For example, Affinity Circles allow attendees to meet informally in groups based on their region, role or goal of interest. Office Hours provide access to funders and service providers to discuss funding strategies and other organizational needs. Co-Labs are facilitated sessions for problem solving. After the event, online follow-up sessions occur monthly throughout the year.

Background on Organizer: Launched in 2009 by Jonathan Lewis, Opportunity Collaboration encourages partnerships among leaders in the social sector to facilitate sustainable solutions to poverty and injustice. The network is based in the US city of Santa Cruz, California.

Cost: Through January, the fee to attend the summit is USD 2,550 for those sharing a suite or USD 3,550 for a private room. This fee includes four nights of lodging, meals, airport transportation and onsite recreation. The registration fees are set to increase to an undisclosed rate in February.
