MICROFINANCE EVENT: Inter-American Forum on Microenterprise (FOROMIC) Hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank

INTER-AMERICAN FORUM ON MICROENTERPRISE (FOROMIC), XI EDITION

OCTOBER 8-10, 2008, CONVENTION CENTER CONMEBOL in ASUNCION, PARAGUAY

Foromic will feature discussion about how to include microentrepreneurs in the “economic mainstream.” Topics will include rural finance, microinsurance, technology, housing and how to improve the speed, price and quality of services. Aside from technical sessions, the event will provide networking opportunities and an exhibit center for businesses related to microenterprise.

Another highlight of the event will be the announcement of the Inter-American Awards for Microenterprise Development, which are given to organizations supporting microenterprise development in Latin America and the Caribbean. To register, fill out the available online forms. The cost will be USD 400 per person until August 15th and USD 450 afterwards, until the spaces are filled. Registrants may also bring a guest for USD 250 who will have access to social events but will have restricted access to technical sessions. So far, 320 individuals, representing a wide variety of organizations, have registered to attend the event. Further inquiries can be directed to foromic@iadb.org.
