VisionFund International, the microfinance arm of US-based NGO World Vision, recently selected UK-based BankBI Limited’s business intelligence and analytics software to manage its operations in 32 countries. VisionFund will use BankBI’s cloud computing system, which is based on the Azure platform from US-based Microsoft, to “centralise its data management and reporting efforts [for] its operational, social performance and financial data” from its network of microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and the Middle East.
As of 2015, VisionFund and its constituent MFIs report unaudited consolidated assets of USD 630 million, total liabilities of USD 419 million, client deposits of USD 39.9 million, a gross loan portfolio of USD 500 million and approximately 1.1 million customers. BankBI reports a user base of approximately 40 banks, MFIs and credit unions in 30 countries.
