MICROFINANCE EVENT: Financial Inclusion in a Digital Economy; November 23 – 24, 2018; Amritsar, India

Summary of Event: The goal of this seminar is to promote “new approaches to address the various problems in the field of financial inclusion” to boost the incomes of “all sections of the society in general and vulnerable groups in particular.” Topics will include treating clients fairly by providing services that are appropriate to their needs, maintaining transparent terms and reducing costs.

Background on Organizers: The Guru Arjan Dev Institute of Development Studies promotes research and training on topics such as rural development, social change, environmental economics, trade, population studies and health policy.

Cost: The fee, which includes shared accommodation for two nights, is INR 2,500 for Indian attendees and USD 250 for those from other countries. The student rates are INR 1,000 and USD 100, respectively. Starting November 1, the rates increase and exclude accommodation.
