The Russian Microfinance Center (RMC), a trade association that advocates on behalf of the Russian microfinance community, and Citi Foundation, the charitable arm of global financial services provider Citi, have announced the opening of nominations for the sixth annual Citi Microentrepreneurship Awards.
The aim of the awards is to highlight the best microentrepreneurs and the most effective organizations that offer microfinancing services across Russia, as well as to raise public and government awareness about the microfinance industry. The award ceremony will be held in February 2011 in Moscow.

The Citi Foundation provides grants and guarantees focusing on the areas of microfinance, small and growing businesses, education, asset building and neighborhood revitalization. Citi Foundation has total assets of USD 65.8 million, USD 12.3 million of which is allocated to 152 total active investments as of 2009.
About Russian Microfinance Center (RMC):
Established in July 2002, the Russian Microfinance Center (RMC) is a trade association that advocates on behalf of the microfinance community. In addition, RMC serves as a resource center for Russia’s microfinance industry and a national forum for its interaction with the government and investors. The goals of RMC are to promote an enabling legal environment for microfinance, to promote national microfinance standards and to offer training and professional consulting services to MFIs.
