Summary of Event: Themed “Financial Capability as a 21st Century Life Skill,” this summit will focus on financial education initiatives for youth and adults at various life stages. The conference will present programs for low-income groups and discuss issues of accreditation, multi-sector partnerships, measuring the impact of financial education and creating sustainable models. Some of the featured speakers include: Michael Zink, Head of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Citi Country Officer for Singapore; David Pilling, Asia Editor for the Financial Times, UK; Dean Karlan, President and Founder of Innovations for Poverty Action, Professor of Economics at Yale University, USA; Ron Bevacqua, Asia Regional Coordinator for PlaNet Finance, France.
Background on the Organizers: Citi Foundation is the charitable arm of US-based financial services provider Citigroup. The Foundation provides grants and guarantees to socially-oriented organizations focusing on the areas of microfinance, small and growing businesses, education, asset building and neighborhood revitalization.
The Pearson Foundation is the charitable arm of US-based learning company, Pearson. It works with businesses, education experts and nonprofits to promote learning and teaching.
The Financial Times (FT), established in 1888, is a UK-based international business news organization. The FT family of companies also includes macro policy intelligence provider Medley Global Advisors (MGA), fund management information provider Money-Media, recruitment site Exec-Appointments and Financial Times Business, which publishes the personal finance magazine Investors Chronicle, The Banker, Money Management and Financial Adviser for professional advisers.
