Summary of Events: The focus for the 2010 conference will be ‘financial inclusion’ and ‘combining profit with social impact’. A combination of plenary, workshop and roundtable sessions will offer participants the opportunity to stay informed, debate and contribute to discussions.
Background on Organizer: The European Microfinance Platform (e-MFP) was founded in 2006. It is a network of approximately 120 microfinance organizations and individuals. Its objective is to promote cooperation among European microfinance institutions working in developing countries by facilitating communication and the exchange of information. e-MFP members include banks, financial institutions, government agencies, NGOs, consultancy firms, researchers and universities.
Event Themes and Discussion Topics:
– Risk mangement for MFIs: lessons learned from the implementation of “The risk management facility” (RMF)
– Microfinance role in conflict and natural distasters
– The role of microfinance institutions and microinsurance
– Microfinance and the environment: the challenge for microfinance institutions
– Making Microfinance Investment Responsible by building a coherent framework for strengthening the social strategy of microfinance investment vehicles (MIVs)
