Cost: EUR 100 (USD 140) per African Microfinance Transparency Forum (AFT) member institution for up to 2 people; EUR 150 (USD 209) per non-member microfinance institution for one person; EUR 500 (USD 697) per investor or other organization for one person; EUR 100 (USD 140) for each additional person
Summary of Event: The fair aims to facilitate the link between rated African microfinance institutions (MFIs) and microfinance investors. The focus will be on financial transparency among African MFIs in order to encourage investment.
Background on the Organizer: Created in 2003, the African Microfinance Transparency Forum (AMT) is a nonprofit based in South Africa. Its objective is to promote transparency and efficiency among African MFIs including by encouraging the use of external performance evaluations.
Event Themes and Discussion Topics:
The event alternates between a series of “speed dating” meetings between African microfinance institutions and investors and presentations relating to the African microfinance sector and transparency. Last year’s presenters included CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor), MFTransparency and the MIX.
Who Is Invited to Attend:
African MFIs that have had a financial rating with a specialized rating agency or who have signed a contract to be rated in the near future, social investors that are active in Africa and AMT members.
