Fondazione Giordano Dell’Amore, an Italian foundation that supports microfinance, has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2015 Giordano Dell’Amore Microfinance Best Practices International Award, which aims to increase the understanding of microfinance and promote the sharing of good practices among industry players. This year’s award is focused on the theme of “improving financial inclusion of smallholder farmers.” The winner will receive EUR 50,000 (USD 53,000) to fund existing services or the implementation of new projects.
Any institution or organization that has been involved for at least 12 months in the financial inclusion of people in a developing or transitioning country may participate. Applications will be judged in relation to the following criteria: innovation, sustainability, impact, replicability and the company’s track record in improving financial inclusion for small-scale farmers.
The deadline for submitting applications is April 19, 2015. Three finalists will be selected by May 31, 2015, and the winner will be announced at a conference to be held on October 15, 2015, in Milan, Italy.
