Brief Description

The Fund, launched in 2004, is offered by MicroVest, a US $20 million investment firm providing debt and equity capital and management oversight to microfinance institutions (MFIs) in emerging markets. MicroVest was founded by three non-profit institutions: CARE, an international non-profit humanitarian organization, MEDA, a US and Canadian Christian business and professional association, and Seed Capital Development Fund, a US non-profit organization “linking MFIs to local and international capital markets.” The Fund’s main line of business is investment in MFIs. As posted on MIX, Fund goals are to “help the poor and provide investors with current income and long term capital gains maximize shareholder return, promote development of MFIs.”
