The Fund, launched in 2004, is offered by MicroVest, a US $20 million investment firm providing debt and equity capital and management oversight to microfinance institutions (MFIs) in emerging markets. MicroVest was founded by three non-profit institutions: CARE, an international non-profit humanitarian organization, MEDA, a US and Canadian Christian business and professional association, and Seed Capital Development Fund, a US non-profit organization “linking MFIs to local and international capital markets.” The Fund’s main line of business is investment in MFIs.
