Ms Rosalind Copisarow was recently appointed as the new managing director of Oikocredit, a Dutch cooperative investment fund. Ms Copisarow’s experience includes 15 years as an investment banker, 13 years of building new microfinance institutions (MFIs) and three years heading other social enterprises.
In addition to founding Fundusz Mikro, an MFI in Poland, Ms Copisarow has served as a senior vice president of ACCION International, an international microlending organization based in the US, and chief executive of International Development Enterprises UK, a development organization that works to empower subsistence farmers.
As of June 2011, Oikocredit’s portfolio is divided amongst MFIs, cooperatives and small to medium-sized enterprises. “I don’t think I’ve ever seen an organization with such a depth of commitment to its mission as Oikocredit,” Ms Copisarow said. As of year-end 2010, Oikocredit reported USD 900 million in total assets and 790 active investees, of which 596 were MFIs.
