Incofin Investment Management (Incofin IM), a microfinance fund manager based in Belgium, has announced the launch of its ProPulse Fund, which is designed specifically for private institutional investors to provide financing to entrepreneurs in emerging economies via microfinance institutions (MFIs) in response to “the large demand for local currency loans.” In a press release submitted to MicroCapital, Sara Vermeir, the Director of Business Development for Incofin IM, stated that the fund has been “tailor-made” to meet “the needs of large institutional investors such as European pensions funds wishing to invest in the impact investment space.”
While the ProPulse Fund is intended to place investments in developing countries worldwide, Incofin is planning its first investments in the Caucasus region and Central America. There is no information available regarding the amount of funds that the investment vehicle has raised to date.
As of 2014, Incofin IM manages nine facilities with total outstanding investments of EUR 350 million (USD 479 million) in approximately 39 countries.
