MICROFINANCE EVENT: Skoll World Forum; April 6-8, 2022; NOW VIRTUAL

The Skoll World Forum is an annual event intended to advance entrepreneurial solutions to social problems. Although the detailed agenda has not been released, previous conferences have addressed topics such as investing in underserved markets, financial innovation for inclusive business, and funding impact at scale through market segmentation. The forum will also include the Skoll Awards for Social Entrepreneurship, through which a group of entrepreneurs whose businesses have had a significant impact on global issues each receive USD 1.5 million in funding.

Previously scheduled to include three days of in-person sessions followed by a “virtual day of community-led programming,” the event has changed to being held online only.

Background on Organizer: The Skoll Foundation was created in 1999 with the aim of supporting peace and prosperity around the world by investing in social entrepreneurs. The Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship, which was founded in 2003, is housed at the Said Business School of the UK-based University of Oxford. The goal of the center is to advance social entrepreneurship through education, research and collaboration. As of December 2020, the Skoll Foundation’s assets were valued at USD 1.5 billion, and the Skoll Fund – a joint venture with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation – had assets of USD 898 million.

Cost: Attendance is open to all at no cost.
