MWC Barcelona, formerly known as Mobile World Congress, is themed “Intelligent Connectivity” this year, showcasing innovations in mobile technology, such as 5G connectivity, artificial intelligence, internet of things (IoT), digital commerce and big data. Blockchain, on-the-go payment systems, and biometric authentication are among the technologies to be on display. The organizers expect to attract representatives of 2,400 companies to the event.

Background on Organizer:

Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital) was founded in 2012 by the Fundació Barcelona Mobile World Capital with support from the various public- and private-sector organizations in Spain. Apart from hosting MWC Barcelona, MWCapital has founded a startup business platform called 4 Years from Now, also known as 4YFN. For 2017, MWCapital reported revenues of EUR 21.4 million (USD 24.5 million) and a surplus of EUR 4.1 million (USD 4.7 million).
