Summary of Event: This event will bring together representatives of the microfinance and insurance industries to discuss trends, challenges and developments in microinsurance in southern Africa. Particular focus will be laid on the challenges in providing financial services to low- income earners such as marketing, pricing and distribution structure as well as the social complexities involved. The conference will comprise sessions over four days. Additional topics are to include product penetration rates, getting shareholders to commit, marketing strategies and South Africa’s Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FIAS) and proposed Microfinance Act.
