Summary of Event: The event will feature representatives from the microfinance industry to debate its effectiveness in alleviating poverty in the developing world. The event will begin with presentations from Mr Tanmay Chetan, chairman of Cambodian microfinance institution (MFI) Angkor Mikroheranhvatho Kampuchea (AMK), and Ms Dina Pons, East Asia Regional Director and Social Performance Manager at Incofin. Following the presentations there will be a debate on the ability of microfinance to reduce poverty, which will feature Mr Marc Labie, Professor at University of Mons in Belgium; Mr Kurt Moors, program coordinator for the MFI Belgian Raiffeisen Foundation (BRS); and Ms Emmanuelle Javoy, former managing director of Planet Rating.

Background on Organizer: Incofin Investment Management is a private Belgian company that develops and manages funds that invest in MFIs in developing countries. Incofin finances and supports MFIs in approximately 40 countries and has offices in Belgium, Columbia, Kenya and Cambodia in addition to an advisory team in India.
