Cost: A registration rate of AUD 1,100 (USD 1,030) is charged to entrepreneurs 40 years of age or under (exceptions may be considered), who are founders or majority shareholders of high-revenue or high-potential business ventures. The registration cost is AUD 1,500 (USD 1,405) for “observers” and “sponsored attendees”, who are not entitled to “participate in summit outcome discussions or […] contribute to the official summit communique”[1].

Summary of Event: The summit targets young entrepreneurs who are committed to creating a “cohesive entrepreneurial ecosystem […] driven to influence economic policy”[1]. The event seeks to encourage youth entrepreneurship as a mechanism for “economic renewal, job creation, innovation and social change”[1]. Participants will discuss the role of entrepreneurship in addressing youth unemployment and other economic problems, and they will also debate the role of women in business. Group discussions and workshops will be held in order to identify global and country-level challenges faced by young entrepreneurs. Discussions will also cover problems within the “pillars of entrepreneurship”[1], which include “trade and globalization, investment and access to capital, government, taxation and regulation, innovation and technology, education and coordinated support as well as entrepreneurship culture and equality”[1].

Background on Organizer: Established in 1999, the Group of Twenty (G20) brings together finance ministers and central bank governors of “systematically important” industrialized and developing economies to discuss the global economy. The G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance (G20YEA) involves organizations from the G20 countries aiming to encourage youth entrepreneurship. The mission of the G20YEA is to drive economic change, job creation, innovation and social change. Country members include Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, the Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, South Africa and Argentina. The European Union is also represented in the G20 and the G20YEA.
