Summary of Event: This virtual conference organized by CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) and MicroSave aims to explore ways in which organizations can listen to and learn from their clients and the implications this has for financial inclusion in terms of decision-making, product design, delivery, branding, marketing and communication.

Event Themes and Discussion Topics: The conference will comprise 10 sessions over two days. The Sessions are four hours in length, designed to accommodate participants in various time zones. Each session will feature multiple moderators and discussion points. Featured topics include listening to and learning from clients, the influence of cultural context and quantitative and qualitative methods for gaining various insights.

Background on Organizers: CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) is a US-based nonprofit policy and research center dedicated to providing financial access to poor people worldwide. CGAP is supported by approximately 30 development agencies and private foundations. Its mission is to provide market intelligence, to promote standards and to offer advisory services to governments, microfinance providers, donors and investors. CGAP reported total revenue of USD 29.5 million and total assets of USD 24.2 million for the fiscal year ending June 2011.

Established with United Nations funding in 1998, MicroSave is a for-profit technical assistance, training and resource center that relocated from Uganda to Lucknow, India, in 2006 with support from India’s ICICI Bank. In 2008, MicroSave was transformed into a consulting company, and it has since completed projects in Cameroon, Congo, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
