MICROFINANCE EVENT: 6th International Conference on Sustainable Development; September 12 - 13, 2018; Rome, Italy

Event Summary: For the sixth iteration of this event, the European Center of Sustainable Development again is inviting academics and private-sector representatives to discuss “sustainability in an holistic perspective, where environmental, cultural, economic and social concerns intersect.” Until June 10, the organizers are accepting proposals to present at the conference on the subjects of economic, environmental and socio-cultural sustainability. The economic sustainability category includes microfinance as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The presenters are to include Professor Yee Keong Choy of Japan’s Keio University, Professor Leonardo Varvaro of Italy’s University of Tuscia, and Professor Gian Paolo Caselli of Italy’s University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

Background on Organizer: The European Center of Sustainable Development (ECSDEV) is a nonprofit organization that was founded in Rome, Italy, in 2010. The organization emphasizes research on the topic of sustainability, which it defines as, “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” Its mission includes sharing its research results via events as well as publications.

Cost: The cost to attend the conference is EUR 400 (USD 468). Those not attending may receive the conference materials at a cost of EUR 300 (USD 351).
