MICROCAPITAL EVENT: Sixth European Microfinance Network (EMN) Annual Conference Hosted by Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation and RITMI, Rete Italiana di Microfinanza

SIXTH EUROPEAN MICROFINANCE NETWORK ANNUAL CONFERENCE

JUNE 4-5, 2009, MILAN, ITALY

The 2009 sixth European Microfinance Network (EMN) Annual Conference, subtitled “Microfinance and its Growth in Europe: Consequences, Challenges, Opportunities” will focus on discussing the exchange of good practices for growth in the microfinance sector. The conference is being co-organized by the Giordano Dell’Amore Foundation and RITMI: Rete Italiana di Microfinanza, an Italian microfinance network, and sponsored by the European Commission, the Levis Strauss Foundation and MicroBank la Caixa.

Around 350 participants among whom practitioners, bankers, researchers, investors, local government and European Commission representatives, policy makers, the private sector, and the media will be in attendance. The conference will take place at the Palazzo Confalonieri, in the center of Milan. Furthermore, this conference will be the first time the “Award Europe” on Microfinance Good Practices is presented. The preliminary program of the conference is available for download. Online registration is also available. Fees range from EUR 350 (USD 460) to EUR 440 (USD 580), with discounts available for EMN members, early registration and multiple registrants from one organization. The EMN was launched in April 2003 and is a non-governmental organization based in Paris dedicated to the promotion of microfinance in the European Union. Based on the organization’s annual report, the EMN had an annual budget of EUR 660,000 (USD 874,000)
